What Shall I Carve Next?

Embroidered Pumpkin

I have spent year upon year creating pumpkins for The Minion. It started out simple enough. Let's see, where do I begin?

The first was a very original jack-o-lantern face, next a cat and full moon, then it was Carol from Where the Wild Things Are and lastly Dora the Explorer. Which brings us to pumpkin number five.... How am I going to top Dora?

Jack Skellington

Tinkerbell

Minnie Mouse

The idea to mesh yarn with pumpkin has crossed my mind but I do love the idea of carving as much I love knitting. Yarn wrapping a pumpkin just isn't as fun.

I am liking this cross stitch tutorial though...... Decisions, decisions!

Ziggy Goes to America: An Embroidery of Two Davids

Aladdin Sane Era Bowie
Embroidery

Great example of embroidery by blogger, Sister Twister; a self-proclaimed lover "of crafting, cats, shiny things and biscuits." She and I have a lot in common only my loves are crafting, ghoulish things and cupcakes.

I foolishly know very little Bowie Lore and was confused by Ziggy Stardust Era Bowie with Aladdin Sane Era Bowie, but a simple trip to wiki cleared that right up. Apparently, to make a long story short, Bowie referred to Aladdin Sane as "Ziggy Goes to America."
Here is the inspiration behind Sister Twisty's Bowie:

.....and just for fun, here he is in cat form (also by Sister Twisty):

David Meowi

Even further, here's my favorite Bowie:

David Bowie as Goblin King Jareth

But I'll save that for another post :)

Do I know how to embroider? No, not really. I am, however, willing to learn! To get me started I found this very cute transfer pattern and with a little help from the Tutorials of Jenny Hart over at Sublime Stitching I may be well on my way to Mischievous Stitchery.....
