GAH! I have been knitting a
Gaptastic Cowl for my Sister's Birthday this coming week, and I have gotten through one and half skeins in the round, when I realize I made a mistake 5 rows down!!!!! Shall I knit on and pretend I didn't just knit a stitch that I was meant to purl or should I back knit 131 X 4 rows? I have no idea how to proceed! How could I have fudged up Seed Stitch.... HOW?!?
BOO!
To Fix or Ignore..... that is the question!
You wouldn't have to rip back to fix it. When you're back around to the stitches above the mistake, drop the stitch down to the mistake. This will definitely help - http://techknitting.blogspot.com/2012/01/fixing-run-in-garter-or-seed-stitch.html
ReplyDeleteIf you have a crochet hook, just drop the stitches above the one you were supposed to purl and pick them up with a crochet hook so you have the stitches like they were supposed to be (can't explain it any better sorry)? That's what I always do. :)
ReplyDeleteEh- no one will know unless you point it out, right? And in the grand scheme of things, seed stitch is a good hider-of-mistakes. I say knit on and supress the perfectionist! That cowl design will roll and have folds so it's fine.
ReplyDeleteSo true! I am such perfectionist when it comes to gifting things I have handmade. Truth be told, if I were making it for myself I would ignore my mistake and wear it proudly. Thanks for the vote of confidence :)
DeleteThanks for the advice everyone. I'm going to look into trying to amend the "broken" stitch and see where that leads me. @ Sweet Intuition: Thanks for the link!
